State College Students Religious Exemptions Alert
It has come to our attention that Maryland State Colleges like Towson University have come up with a new form which they require students to sign in order to exercise their right to a religious exemption for vaccination. The new form appears to be discriminatory and it prompted a collaborating organization, Health Choice Maryland, to seek legal counsel. According to the legal reviewer,
“There is a potential First Amendment issue with compelled speech in the public university form.”
In order to challenge the legality of the form, a student or students who are being faced with signing the new form would have to be identified for standing. If you are affected by this form and wish to challenge the requirement, please contact folks at: info@healthchoicemaryland.org for more information.
This relates only to Maryland public colleges and universities and not private ones.
