Update on removing COVID 19 vaccination mandate for District of Columbia school children
In support of parental rights and health choice, Marylanders joined with DC residents to attend a public hearing on June 22, 2023 to advocate for the removal of the DC “School Student Vaccination Amendment Act of 2023″.
This hearing was scheduled to consider Bill 25-278. The stated purpose of Bill 25-278 was to remove the requirement that students in the District of Columbia be vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to attend school.
Those unable to testify at the hearing, were encouraged to submit written statements which became a part of the official record. The record closed at 5:00pm on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
The Council of the District of Columbia voted on July 11, 2023 and approved the Resolution that removes the mandate for school children in DC to be COVID 19 vaccinated in order to attend school. The vote was 11 in support of the Bill and 2 abstaining. Thank you to all those who testified and called or wrote in support of the Bill that removed the mandate. Be mindful however, as of this writing, a Google search to inquire if COVID 19 vaccination was required for school admission for the 2023-2024 school year, it was incorrectly stating the vaccine was required. Hopefully this will be corrected.
